Apple iPhone 4 Cases Reportedly Won’t Fit On iPhone 4S

iphone 4s

Apple execs might have said that the iPhone 4S looks and feels the same as the iPhone 4 and it appears that the form might be the same but the fit definitely is not the same.

According to one Android-Sale Blog, the switcher and volume key buttons of iPhone 4S have been moved down slightly, which are going to render iPhone 4 cases useless for the iPhone 4S. This might have be done to accommodate the new dual-antenna design in the iPhone 4S to solve the ‘antennagate’ issue.

Notice the extra slit on top of the switcher button. This might be bad news for existing iPhone 4 users who are buying the iPhone 4S but the case manufacturing industry would certainly be rejoicing. They will have something new to sell, especially after Apple hoodwinked them into making ‘iPhone 5′ cases with a new slimmer design and larger display.

iphone

Already we have seen about a 100 different interpretations of what Apple’s iPhone 5 might look like at this point, and we all probably agree that October 4th can’t come soon enough; regardless of what Apple is going to introduce next month, it will finally put an end to the rumors and speculation.

The next-generation of Apple’s iPhone might be an incremental update or a major upgrade or both of them, and while current signs are pointing to the optimal scenario, a revamped low end iPhone 4 and an all new redesigned iPhone 5 and we don’t know for sure until shortly after 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time on the 4th but in the meantime, however, we can dream.

Ben Miller of German mobile site BenM.at has gathered all of the case leaks, rumored specs and mock-ups that have trickled out over the past few months, and actually built a physical best-guess iPhone 5 out of glass and aluminum finally the result is gorgeous. Miller’s design definitely resembles the Case-Mate renders we exclusively reported earlier this month, and if the real iPhone 5 looks anything like this, we can’t get our hands on it soon enough.

Though the page has been quickly removed, it triggered intense speculation about the shape of the next iPhone. It was put up on a product page published on the Case-Mate website.
Daily Telegraph said the website showed what were cases for Apple’s forthcoming iPhone 5 but it has been later removed.
Going by the new case, it is a design for a device with curved edges and it could be more like the iPod touch than the iPhone 4. It also appeared wider than the iPhone 4.

Finally, Airtel has taken the wraps off its iPhone 4 8GB and will be available at Rs 37,900, which is going to be put in our hands from November 25 along with the new iPhone 4S and the older iPhone 3GS 8GB.

Ironically, still the users can get hold of the iPhone 4 16GB variant (which will be discontinued from tomorrow) for Rs 35,500! Most stores have ran out of stocks but they can still be found in some places.

In all likelihood, Aircel will also offer the iPhone 4 8GB for Rs 37,900. While we won’t get into the blame game of who is responsible for these absurd pricing – Apple or the carriers – there is no way they can justify the pricing of a lower capacity version of the same product on the depreciating Rupee.

If you still want to go for an iPhone 4, we suggest you recce the market and get hold of the 16GB variant today. Happy hunting!

Also Moto RAZR Uses A Micro SIM Card

micro SIM

By now almost everyone came to know most facts about the Moto RAZR, which has been launched in India on 21st November. Facts are nothing but like its 7.1-inch thinness or its Kevlar fiber rear panel or its splash proof internals or that it has the world’s thinnest battery in a smartphone. Most of you would also know its core specs – 1.2GHZ dual-core TI processor, 16GB of internal memory, 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED Advanced display… But what many of you probably won’t know is it too uses a micro SIM card. Yes, the same tiny ‘non-standard’ SIM card that was first used in the iPhone 4 last year. Read on for more observations.

Yes, micro SIM cards are not standard, yet and are not easily available either, however, this is what will become the standard in the coming 12 months. As phones get packed with more sensors, get power guzzling features (a 4-inch+ display, for instance) and the constant obsession to miniaturize the device’s footprint, manufacturers will attempt to save every square centimeter of space possible. And micro SIM is one of the options. Take the RAZR, for example. The phone’s internals have been so closely packed that there is literally no space between layers, which seem to have been pasted on top of each other. The designers had to keep the bezel wide in order to accommodate the 1780 mAh battery that should be able to last a day of heavy to moderate usage.

And it is not just Apple and Motorola. Nokia’s Lumia 800, too, uses a micro SIM. It is about time Indian carriers started stocking micro SIM cards.
