Microsoft acknowledged and Symantec also confirmed that it has spotted in-the-wild attacks exploiting the critical vulnerability in IE6 and IE7. Security researchers told that the just-disclosed unpatched bug in Internet Explorer (IE) to launch drive-by attacks from malicious Web sites.

“This attack appears to be rather targeted at the moment, but as with other unpatched vulnerabilities in the past, this has the potential to explode now that the word is getting out. Visiting the page is enough to get infected,” said Craig Schmugar, a threat researcher at McAfee.

Attacks are launched from Web sites in a classic drive-by fashion, said Schmugar and others. “We’re still seeing just limited attacks,” said Ben Greenbaum, a senior research manager on Symantec’s security response team. “The exploit is carried out simply by visiting a Web page hosting the vulnerability. When the browser opens the page, the exploit causes the user’s computer to download and execute another piece of malware.” continue reading…

lgepapertechnology-thumbLG has revealed the World’s first 14.1 inch flexible e-paper, that is almost like a traditional paper, as you can turn pages like you do on normal paper, the images remain crisp and text readable while you bend it 180 degrees and you don’t have to discard it daily, thanks to the digital distribution. This e-paper display is  300 mm thick and only consumes power when the image changes so its power friendly too. The technology used behind is slightly different that we have seen before as it uses the TFTs

on metal foil rather than on glass, making it more flexible.

Not much info is available regarding its availability and price but LG plans to mass produce these next generations displays in first half of 2010.

Rapidshare-Download-300x229If you ever tried downloading files from file-hosting sites like RapidShare, you know how unfriendly that process is.

You click on a link pointing to some RapidShare hosted file, wait around a minute for the timer to complete and then you get a direct link to download the corresponding file. And if you don’t download within the next minute or so, the link expires and you need to repeat the whole cycle in order to download that file.

Things get even more confusing if you are trying to download files during peak hours or need to download multiple files in one go.

For obvious reasons, none of these file hosting sites provide “official” download managers and the ones you already have on your machine (like GetRight, Orbit or FlashGet) aren’t quite compatible. continue reading…
