“This attack appears to be rather targeted at the moment, but as with other unpatched vulnerabilities in the past, this has the potential to explode now that the word is getting out. Visiting the page is enough to get infected,” said Craig Schmugar, a threat researcher at McAfee.

Attacks are launched from Web sites in a classic drive-by fashion, said Schmugar and others. “We’re still seeing just limited attacks,” said Ben Greenbaum, a senior research manager on Symantec’s security response team. “The exploit is carried out simply by visiting a Web page hosting the vulnerability. When the browser opens the page, the exploit causes the user’s computer to download and execute another piece of malware.”

Most of the malware downloaded and installed on the infected PC consists of backdoors that let hackers install and run even more attack code. Among the malware is a .dll file that’s injected into IE to provide additional remote access to the machine, Schmugar said.

“It started out as limited and targeted, but now, with the drive-by attacks, it’s no longer only a targeted attack,” he said in an interview.

On Tuesday, Microsoft warned users of IE6 and IE7 that attackers were using an unpatched vulnerability in their browsers, but the company did not publish technical details of the bug.

It recommended that users modify access to “iepeers.dll,” disable scripting and/or enable DEP (Data Execution Prevention).

According to Vupen Security, the bug is a “user-after-free” memory error in the way iepeers.dll handles certain data. “User-after-free” refers to an attempt to reuse memory space after it has been freed, said Andrew Storms, director of security operations at nCircle Network Security, in an instant-message interview.

Microsoft may be forced to react with an emergency update if that happens, Greenbaum contended. “It’s possible Microsoft may consider an out-of-band patch for this issue,” he said.

Both Symantec and McAfee have created and distributed signatures that detect and block the installation of the malware that the drive-by exploit tries to inject into PCs.

Tuesday’s advisory was the second in the past 60 days from Microsoft warning of ongoing attacks against an unpatched IE vulnerability. In mid-January, Microsoft said that a flaw in its browser had been used to attack several companies’ networks, including Google’s and Adobe’s. Microsoft patched that vulnerability, and seven others, later in the month when it shipped an out-of-band update.

User can also upgrade Internet Explorer to IE8, which does not contain the bug and so is immune from attack.

A 6.0- magnitude earthquake hit Elazig province of eastern Turkey early Monday. A Turkish official said eleven people died in this earthquake.

Local NTV channel quoted Selcuk Aslan, Kovancilar Town sub-governor of Elazig province, as saying that 11 villagers were killed and more than 20 others injured at Okcular Village in Kovancilar town of Elazig province.

Turkish rescue teams have been rushing to Kovancilar town, the center of the earthquake in Elazig province, according to the NTV channel report.

The powerful quake struck Basyurt region of Karakocan town of Elazig province at a depth of 5 km at 4:32 a.m. local time (0232 GMT), said a report from istanbul-based Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute of Turkey’s Bogazici University.

According to an earlier report by the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake was measured at 6.2 magnitudes, struck 21 km south southwest of Elazig at a depth of 11 km.

Turkey is frequently effected by earthquakes. In 1999, more than 18,000 people were killed in two devastating earthquakes in the country.

While some people don’t care about history and would like to see the Michigan central station torn down due to its decrepit state, but there are others who would like to see it as a relic from the past; a site to preserve and treasure rather than to be torn down.

The Michigan Central Station is 97 years old and it carries with it many stories and memories, it is actually a landmark for the area. For those who want the Michigan Central Station to be demolished; their reasons are that it is just an ugly site for the area, with cracked walls, and huge useless structure, they just consider it as the ugliest behemoths of Detroit.

It is yet to be seen which side will win and whether the Michigan Central Station will survive through the coming years or its end has come!

The material used to build the Houston Dome to cover the entire city of Houston must be durable, but also lightweight enough. The Houston Dome Project is expected to use a project called Texlon EFTE, which is light-weight and durable and is expected to withstand winds up to 180 MPH. Texlon EFTE is able to hold up against fire as well as water and even a hurricane with the strongest category 5. The Texlon EFTE will be used in conjunction with steel for support.

Houston is expecting the geodesic dome to eliminate the negative elements, which is proposed to make Houston a more pleasant place to live.

Some questions that are raised are what if the people of Houston enjoy seeing the sun and the feeling the pitter patter of rain and the warm breezes on their faces? Will they still experience a naturally grown wild flower? It seems to be that life will be experienced inside an air conditioned controlled bubble and that just doesn’t seem natural to me.

The Houston Project Dome seems unreal and unnatural.

The launch includes the application designed specially for ipad  is Ibooks. The application is free  and enable  the ipad to use as eBook reader  which have a built-in Apple iBookstore. This iBookstore was expected to only support ePub formatted books at first, but publishers are taking advantages of ibook application.
